History and foundation

Javier Garrido, Former Professional and Managing Director of the Marbella International Tennis Club (founded in 1980).

He has a great professional career behind him:

He began playing tennis at the Real Madrid Sports City and developed his professional career at the Chamartín Tennis Club.

Between the years 1970/1977, Javier Garrido played in numerous top-class tennis tournaments, highlighting many victories, including Madrid champion in the categories:

  • Cadet
  • Junior and Absolute
  • Spanish team champion

 

Ending his career as a professional player at a young age due to a traffic accident.

He began his career as a tennis teacher directing, together with Antonio Martín, all the Amateur and Professional teams of the Chamartin Tennis Club until 1979, where he continued his career on the Costa del Sol.

In 1979, along with Teo Barrios, they created the Bel Air Tennis Club, in parallel with the incorporation of Bjorn Borg and with Manolo Santana between 1982 and 1988 Javier Garrido was part of the professional team and organizer of events in Puente Romano.

In 1988, he fully joined the Management of the Marbella International Tennis Club, in which he has been developing his work to this day, fully participating in the promotion of local tennis and instilling this sport from the earliest ages.
